Review: Shu Uemura x Karl Lagerfeld Rouge Unlimited Lipstick

Hiya lovelies! I hope you’re having a great Easter weekend :)

I was going through my stash of makeup the other day and found this Shu Uemura lipstick that was given to me by my sister. It is part of a Shu Uemura x Karl Lagerfeld collection and I had an eyeshadow palette gifted to me too. The eyeshadow palette has some rather funky colours which was a bit too adventurous for me so I haven’t actually used it, but I might take it out and  play around to see what I can do with it. I think this collection is no longer available for sale so this review would be more about sharing what I think of it than one that’s targeted at helping you decide whether to purchase this product.

So this lipstick is in the shade Celebrity Beige, and there were three other colours in this collection: Parisienne Pink, Luxe Burgundy and Mon Shu Red. Celebrity Beige is on the extreme right and is a muted peach colour that is suitable for everyday wear.

The packaging of the bullets is just so adorable! The little girl is sooo Japanese-like. I like how the cover for the lipstick is a clear case, which means you can tell what shade of lipstick it is if you own more than one bullet.

When I swatched it on my arm, the colour was not too visible. The pigmentation was not great and I had to build the colour up a bit. The heavy swatch revealed a nude-peach sort of colour.

I usually wear this lipstick during the week to work, as I like my work makeup to be very low-key. As you can tell from the pictures below, Celebrity Beige provides a very sheer peach colour to my lips.

Personally I’m not particularly wow-ed by this product, but neither am I hating it. It does not dry my lips out but neither does it moisturise my lips. It does provide some colour to my lips in the morning, but it doesn’t have great staying power. After eating my breakfast the colour is half gone, and it transfers to cups too so the colour is pretty much gone by the time I’ve had my coffee and a couple of glasses of water. I won’t wear this on the weekend or when I’m going out because I prefer more intense colours on my lips on those days. Perhaps if I had a choice I would’ve chosen the Mon Shu Red instead, but this was a gift so I shall not complain.

This is my only Shu Uemura lipstick so I’m not sure if it’s the formula in this particular range that makes the product so average or if it’s consistent throughout their other lipsticks. I had rather high expectations of this lipstick prior to using it because Shu Uemura is quite a good cosmetic brand! I may visit a Shu Uemura counter when I see one just to swatch their other lipsticks and see how they compare with this. But unfortunately for now, this product doesn’t do much for me.

Rating: 2.5/5

Have you tried Shu Uemura lipsticks or their other products before? What do you think of them?

Priceline 40% off Haul!

Hi guys!

So if you don’t already know, Priceline had a 40% off all cosmetics sale on Tuesday and Wednesday last week and that sent many of us Australian beauty enthusiasts crazy in the shops. I must be one of the last few beauty bloggers to share my haul with everyone and I’m so sorry for being so slow with it! ><

Priceline 40% off cosmetics

My humble Priceline haul!

I got quite a few items in this haul: Bourjois 123 Perfect CC Cream in Light Beige, Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Eraser for Dark Circles concealer in Medium, Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet in 07 Nude-ist and the Revlon Colorburst Balm Stain in Crush. I actually also got a Nude by Nature Mineral Powder Starter Kit in Medium (last on the shelf! yay!) and I totally forgot to take a photo of it! I’m so terrible :( But here’s a photo of  the kit and what it contains:

What’s in the kit: Undercover Airbrush Mineral Primer, Natural Mineral Cover, Mineral Bronzer, Mineral Finishing Veil, Kabuki Brush

The Bourjois 123 Perfect CC Cream and Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Eraser for Dark Circles (that was quite a mouthful!) have been widely raved and reviewed by beauty bloggers around the world so I won’t go into too much detail about them. I did swatch the Bourjois 123 Perfect CC Cream before getting it and I was pretty impressed by its consistency, so I’m excited to see how it looks on my face :)

Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet 07 Nude-ist

Moving onto the lip products, I was so happy that I got the last brand new tube of the Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet in 07 Nude-ist! Don’t you guys just love that feeling when you manage to score the last item on the shelves?? It’s even better when that item is on 40% off!

I first saw this shade on a beauty blogger’s MOTD look and I thought it would make a beautiful everyday lip colour, especially during the colder months that’s coming up. This is how it looks like when swatched:

My other lip product is also one that I bought with the expectation that I’ll be wearing it heaps when Autumn/Winter arrives in the Southern Hemisphere.

Revlon Colorburst Balm Stain Crush

Revlon Colorburst Balm Stain in 005 Crush

This is my first Revlon Balm Stain and at first I thought that Crush would be a bit too deep for my lips but after swatching it in the store, it didn’t come out as heavy as I imagined it to be. I wanted to get a lip colour that I don’t already have and this was also the last brand new item on its shelf so that was probably the deciding factor for me :D

Crush when swatched

It looks sort of like a nice plum shade on my skin but is not too dramatic so it’ll be great to wear this during Autumn/Winter on a daily basis.

I can’t remember the individual prices I got all of these for, but I do know that these cost me about A$80 altogether and my Nude by Nature Mineral Kit was about A$35 down from its original price of A$60! Full priced makeup is SO EXPENSIVE in Australia it just makes me sad when I hear about how much you guys can get Maybelline and MAC for in the States :(

Anyway, I hope you guys enjoyed this little haul! I’ll be sure to feature these products in my MOTD looks and let you know what I think of them :)

Have a great week ahead! <3

Beauty Haul: Singapore (Part 2)

Hello everyone!

Welcome back to my Beauty Haul: Singapore series, I hope you’re having a great week so far!

Thanks to my uncontrollable shopping urges, I returned to Perth with a whole heap of beauty products and they all couldn’t fit into one haul post! If you have missed out on the first half of the haul post, you can read all about it here :)

All the pretty little and not so little things! :)

#8 CLIO Kill Black Waterproof Pen Liner – I’ve been hearing quite a few positive reviews about this eyeliner and when I saw that Watsons has this I jumped onto the opportunity to try it out. I got it in Black but thinking back I probably should have gotten it in Brown. There is also a Brush Liner version of it but and there seems to be mixed reviews about which one is better. We’ll see…

#9 Sephora Collection Rouge Cream Lipstick in Valentine 09 – So I was walking around Sephora after grabbing my Naked Basics Palette and remembered a beauty blogger raving about Sephora lipsticks being creamy and longlasting and how she would never be able to live without them. I went to the lipsticks counter and began swatching a few shades of nudes and reds to see how they looked. Boy, was I blown away by them! I took them from the Rouge Cream range and they were indeed creamy and pigmented. They had so many beautiful shades on display that I had a difficult time choosing a colour. Bright red or reddish pink? How about bright pink or fuschia? Or a dark red? I swatched everything I loved and went up to one of the store assistants for her opinion and finally settled for Valentine. Have a look at its gorgeous colour:

#10 CLIO Virgin Kiss Lipnicure in Crime Pink – This is one product that’s the classic example of “A Beauty Blogger made me buy this”! I read reviews online that it stays on your lips for ages and is very pigmented so I thought I’d give this a try. Although it is in liquid form in the packaging, once it is applied on your lips it dries and gives a matte finish. I got this in #3 Crime Pink which is kind of like a coral pink shade. I’m kinda into corals lately!

#11 Bourjois Twist Up The Volume Mascara in Ultra Black – Yup, another mascara. I have always loved Bourjois products and their mascaras are pretty good quality as well. I decided to get this because my current mascara is running out and just in case I end up not liking the CLIO Salon De Cara mascara I bought in this haul too :P

#12 Tony Moly Luminous Pure Aura CC Cream – I have been looking for the Supergoop! CC Cream after reading excellent reviews about it but after searching for it high and low I still couldn’t find it. I came across the Tony Moly Pure Aura CC Cream in the airport lounge by chance, tested it on my hand and it made my hand look brighter. It also felt pretty lightweight so I thought this could be worth a try :)

#13 Innisfree Best Loved Collection (Free gift) – I didn’t exactly purchase this pack, it was a free gift for signing up as a member with Innisfree shop Singapore when I got my Innisfree Volcanic Pore Clay Mask. I love this pack because I was browsing the shop before I went to the cashier and was pretty keen on the Green Tea Seed range as well as their Orchid range. Now I get to try these samples before purchasing the big sizes, and get a sweet travel sized volcanic pore clay mask tub. Score! :D

#14 CLIO Gelpresso Waterproof Shadow in No.1 Beer Pong – I’m pretty excited to start trying this out because I think it can be a very versatile product. It is marketed as an eyeshadow, with 5 other shades available, but you could definitely use it as an eyeliner as well. Honestly I was so tempted to get the other 5 shades along with it because all of them are just so beautiful! Beer Pong is a lovely champagne colour which I intend to use to brighten the lower lash line and inner corners of my eyes. I’ve always loved shimmery eyeliner looks and it seems like glitter eyeliner will be the look for 2015 so this should be a pretty good investment!

And that was everything I hauled back to Perth! Hope you enjoyed my little report :P There is quite a mix of Korean and Western make up products, and most of them are pretty affordable.

I would love to review and feature all of these soon but it will be difficult to get through all of them in a short time. Which ones are you most interested to see a review or feature of? Please leave a comment below and I will try out those products first :)

Stay pretty,

Soph
