Op Shop Costume Ball and Updates

Hi guys!

I hope you are getting back into the groove of things after a nice Easter long weekend :) I went for a little road trip down south of Western Australia over Easter, to a beautiful coastal town called Esperance. Because Esperance is so far away (900+km from Perth), we also stopped over at the not-so-nearby Albany (four hours drive away!) for a day so that our drive back up will not be too torturous. It still took us about 5 hours of nonstop driving over 400+km to get back to Perth, but the entire trip was so worth it! <3

Anyhoo, getting back to work on yesterday was so difficult – I think my brain only came back from Esperance today. I did post up some photos of the trip so if you’re interested to have a look you can hop over to my Instagram @hunnybunnysoph :)

So a couple of weeks back I went to an Op Shop Costume Ball, and I thought it would be something interesting to share! Basically because this is a charity ball, attendees are encouraged to pick out an outfit from the op shops and wear them to the ball. You could go in a crazy outfit or pick out pieces of clothing and do a mix-and-match (or mismatch) as long as they’re from the op shop.

Guess what I went as?

Op Shop Ball costume

To be honest I didn’t know what this costume was, it just looked like something from a Disney movie so I thought it would be a really fun to wear this. I did get quite a few comments saying I looked like a Disney princess, not bad for $12! :D

If you guys remember my review of the CLIO Gelpresso Waterproof Shadow here, I shared an eye make up look featuring the two products. That was actually taken half-way through my make up for this ball, so now I’m sharing the full make up look.

For the steps to the eye makeup, here it is! I used my Urban Decay Primer Potion on my eyelids before putting on the eyeshadows.

Naked Palette Eye Make up

From the Naked Palette: Sin, Naked and Buck. Eyeliner: CLIO Waterproof Pen Liner in Kill Black

As you already know, the next step was applying the CLIO Gelpresso Waterproof Shadow in Beer Pong on my lower lash line. I finished the eye make up with my KATE Volume Gel Mascara on my eyelashes.

I tried to take another selfie for a close up of my make up. Pardon the terrible lighting!

Finished make up look

All ready for the ball!

For my cheeks, I used my 3CE Face Blush in Love Filter to achieve a natural flushed look. For my lips, I used the Sephora Collection Rouge Cream Lipstick in Valentine 09. I won’t go in depth about this lipstick as I will be doing a review of it soon. All I can say is that I’m loving it heaps!

I’m not very creative when it comes to hairdos, so I did a french braid and pinned up the flyaway hair with some bobby pins. I pretty much braid my hair every time I need to get dressed up for some reason, I’m terrible with curling and making pretty upstyle dos :(

So that’s it for my Op Shop Ball make up and outfit share. I’m hoping to do more MOTD posts after settling into my new place (I’m moving house next weekend :O) but until then, I should be posting up a couple of reviews, favourites and maaaaybe a haul? Lol I really need some help for this shopping problem of mine ><

Tell me, do you guys go op shopping much?

Review: CLIO Waterproof Pen Liner in Kill Black + CLIO Gelpresso Waterproof Shadow

CLIO Waterproof Pen Liner Gelpresso Waterproof Shadow

Hello lovelies!

I heard your requests for reviews of items in my Sephora Singapore Beauty Haul and today I’m going to start with the popular Korean makeup products: CLIO Waterproof Pen Liner in Kill Black and the CLIO Gelpresso Waterproof Shadow in Beer Pong. Yay!

CLIO Gelpresso Waterproof Shadow Waterproof Pen Liner Kill Black

CLIO products are generally in a black packaging to keep it simple and the Pen Liner and Gelpresso Waterproof Shadow are no different. Both items have a sturdy but light pen casing that houses the products within.

CLIO Waterproof Pen Liner Kill Black

This is the close up of the tip for the CLIO Waterproof Pen Liner. It has a fine tip that is not flimsy at the same time. If the tip is a little dry, all you have to do is shake the pen to allow more product to flow to the tip. The tip is protected by a pen cap that clicks so that you know it is firmly closed.

CLIO Gelpresso Eyeshadow Beer Pong

The CLIO Gelpresso Waterproof Shadow is also shaped like a pen, only a little thicker than the CLIO Waterproof Pen Liner. The product is rounded at the tip to allow gentle application onto your eyelids. Like any automatic pen eyeliner, you only have to turn the barrel to increase the length of the eyeshadow stick. The Gelpresso Waterproof Shadow’s tip is protected by a cap that also clicks once it is firmly closed. I find this design very convenient and prefer this over screw capped pen closures.

Swatches and application

Gelpresso Shadow Beer Pong Pen Liner Kill Black

On the left I have swatched the Gelpresso Waterproof Shadow in Beer Pong, which is a beautiful champagne shade. This was only one swipe and it is rather pigmented. It is also creamy, which makes it easy to apply on the eyelids. I can picture myself using it for highlighting the inner corners or lower lash lines of my eyes. It would also be great to use it on the eyelids for a simple casual look while brightening the eyes.

On the right is a swatch of the Waterproof Pen Liner in Kill Black and that was only a single application. This product is so pigmented and so easy to apply! Although the tip is fine, it is not flimsy to the point where you need super duper steady hands when lining your eyes. There is some firmness in the tip that actually helps give you some stability during the application rather than make it difficult for you.

Both products are waterproof and when I washed my hands they were still intact and not smudged. I had to rub my hands hard with soap to remove the Pen Liner, and at first I thought I had removed the eyeshadow but when I went out after swatching them, I realised that the eyeshadow was still visible on my hand! These will definitely stay on your eyes for a long time, rain or shine!

Eye makeup using the CLIO Waterproof Pen Liner and CLIO Gelpresso Waterproof Shadow in Beer Pong

I had a corporate event to attend last weekend and I thought I would use the two products for my eye make up. I went with a small winged eyeliner and lined my lower lash line with the Gelpresso Waterproof Shadow to brighten up my eyes. I’ll be sharing more details of the makeup I wore for the event in a separate post so keep an eye out for that! I’ll just share the completed eye makeup for now :)

Completed eye makeup! The Gelpresso Eyeshadow is more visible in this photo :)

What I think of the products

I really enjoyed using the two CLIO products! They were easy to apply and so suitable for everyday wear. The Pen Liner allows for precise application if I want to go for a natural eye look, but at the same time can be used to achieve a winged liner look. It is so pigmented and I won’t have to go over and over to make it even and visible. I did not get it in Kill Brown but definitely on my shopping list for my next trip home. Needless to say, I will definitely repurchase this when it runs out!

I also love the shade I had chosen for the Gelpresso Eyeshadow – it is subtle enough for everyday wear and makes my eyes look pretty when I use them on my inner corners and lower lash lines. I got it at about S$20 and I think it is a little pricey for an eyeshadow. That said, this product would last you for quite a while considering how pigmented and long-lasting they are.  I’m considering getting the pale pink and cherry shades on my next trip to Singapore, they would look great layered for a soft look :)

CLIO Waterproof Pen Liner Rating: 5/5

I hope you’ve enjoyed the review and found them useful! Have you used these products before? What do you think of them?

MOTD Featuring The Coloured Eyeliner

Hey sweeties, how’s your weekend going?

I was surfing Pinterest a while ago and came across a photo and thought, “hey this is something I can do with that coloured eyeliner of mine!”. I have had the Aqua eyeliner for a while after watching a Jen’s (frmheadtotoe) video to try out that look and occasionally I love to give a pop of colour to my usual black eyeliner looks. I haven’t been reaching out for it in recent months though, so today I’m going to try recreate this eye makeup look:

For this look I will be using the following make up items:

Naked Palette, Dolly Wink Black Eyeliner, Rimmel Exaggerate eyeliner in Aqua Sparkle, CLIO Lipnicure in Crime Pink and Luscious Angel Eyes Primer

First, I applied the Luscious Angel Eyes Primer all over my eyelids. Before I go on to the next step can I just say that this eye primer is SO SUPER AMAZING. It’s creamy and non-sticky, and most importantly not watery at all! It is easily as good as the UD Primer Potion in my opinion. I squeezed a little thinking it would be enough for one of my eyelids but it turned out to be too much and I had to “share”it with the other eyelid. It’s so blendable and a little bit goes a long way! I might do up a proper review for this eye primer after I get my other product reviews out :)

Moving on, I used the Naked Palette shades Virgin, Buck and Sidecar on my eyelids. I applied Virgin to the entire eyelid as a base, then used Buck for the outer corners of my eyes and blended into the crease. Lastly I took Sidecar and applied it in the middle of my eyelids and blended it in. I also used Virgin on the inner corners of my eyes to brighten them up and on my brow bone as a highlight.

Next, I took my Rimmel Exaggerate Waterproof Eye Definer in Shade 240 Aqua Sparkle and lined it on the lower lash lines of my eyes.

Finally, with my Dolly Wink Liquid Eyeliner I lined my upper lash line. I drew them thin and as close to the lash line as possible because for this look, the emphasis should be on the coloured eyeliner.

The look is almost complete! I used my KATE Volume Gel Mascara on my upper and lower eye lashes.

For my lips, I decided to go with my recent purchase CLIO Virgin Kiss Lipnicure in Crime Pink, which is actually a nice coral pink shade:

And we’re done! Check out my version of the look :)

I hope you had as much fun reading this as I had while replicating the look! I haven’t included contouring as I’m very new to it and I was heading out right after, so I didn’t want to risk ruining all my hard work.

What do you guys think? Have you used coloured eyeliners before? Do you like them? Please leave your messages in the comment box below :)

Have a great rest of the weekend!
