Review: Too Faced Primed and Poreless Skin Smoothing Face Primer

Hi everyone!

Today I’m going to do a review of the second product in this series, and it’s the Too Faced Primed and Poreless Skin Smoothing Face Primer.

Too Faced Primed and Poreless Face Primer

I have had this primer for almost a year and hadn’t used it often until late last year.  This was my first primer product and the girl at the Too Faced counter introduced me to this when I was just gawking at their beautifully packaged make up products.

As indicated on the packaging, “Use alone for the look of flawless skin or under bronzer and makeup for a perfect finish“. I did a little research and found that it contained the following ingredients:

1. Mulberry Extract & Arctostaphylos UVA URSI: Protect, brighten and lighten skin for a renewed freshness and soothing effect.

2. Retinyl Palmitate & Cyclodextrin with CAVAMAX Retinol: Restores moisture, elasticity and suppleness with a powerful combination of anti-wrinkle, youth enhancing, skincare ingredients.

3. Camellia Oil & Vitamin A: Essence of the white tea plant and the free radical fighting vitamins are nature’s most powerful antioxidants. Skin looks firmer, brighter and more resilient, even up close.

This is also vegan-friendly and paraben-free. Sounds good doesn’t it?

Too Faced Primed and Poreless Face Primer

The primer is a nude beige colour and does not have a sheen at all. It is meant to blend right into your skin on application so it makes it perfect for all skin tones :)

I applied some on the back of my hand and it really becomes invisible on my skin after blending. It is not very obvious in the picture but it did make my skin look slightly smoother and covered some pores. This is a silicon-based primer that is slightly creamy in texture which makes it go on smoothly on the face.

I use this every morning and because of it’s slightly creamy texture it makes it easy to spread the product across the face. My skin is not that great and this primer alone was not enough to cover the blemishes on my face so I have never used it alone. If you have generally clear skin, this would be a great product to wear on days you wish to have light makeup on.

I wear this with my ModelCo Mineral Powder Foundation and my make up stays fresh for most part of the day. At around 5-6 hours you can see some fading of my make up but it is still visible on my face. My face also does not look oily at the end of the work day, although I’m not sure if it’s entirely due to the primer or combined effects of the primer and my mineral powder.

So what do I think of it?

Wearing this underneath my foundation indeed makes my face look more flawless and I am very satisfied with how long it locks my makeup on for. Personally, after using this I realised that I don’t really like how silicon-based primers feel on my skin, but I could overlook that seeing what this product could do for me.

This primer comes in a 28g or 1 oz tube and retails at about A$38, so it isn’t exactly cheap for the amount of product you get. I only have experience with two primers so far, the other one being my Laura Mercier Foundation Primer so I can’t say the Too Faced Primer is my favourite primer in the world.

As to whether I will repurchase after it finishes, I probably will not for the time being as I would like to try out other primers on the market. I am most likely staying away from silicon-based primers but if one day I find that cream primers do not work well on my skin, I might return to this Too Faced Primer. If you are used to silicon-based primers then I would think this is a good product to try out.

Rating: 4/5

Thanks for reading my review! Have you tried this or the other Too Faced Primers before? What do you think of them? Please leave a comment below, I’d love to know what you think :)

I haven’t tried this primer yet. My fave so far is the Hourglass Mineral Veil Primer. It is the only one that doesn’t irritate me. I’m pretty sure the benefit “that gal” primer made me break out :( great review. I never really hear anything about this product!

Thanks Joy :) Oh yes I tried “That Gal” too and didn’t like it at all! I was super new to make up then and I couldn’t understand what it was that everyone was raving about. :( I have to look into Hourglass’ products, I hear abt them all the time but haven’t seen them around before…

I literally keep going back to “That Gal” just to see if one day I will see what everyone else sees that is so good about it. I should make a review and all it will say is that it sucks. Jk that’s too short.

Good to know! I too have had this primer along side my other primers for months now. I seem to grab for one or two of the others and this one gets neglected. I’ll pull it out and give it another try! Happy Friday!

Haha it’s my only primer for daily wear so I have nothing else to reach out for >< Which other primers do you use? You must like them better to be always reaching out for them :)

My favorite is the one that came in my Coffee Break With Dani Memebox. I don’t remember the name but I can look for you if you like. It’s amazing at minimizing pores and fine lines.

The packaging is really pretty. I’m yet to try anything from Too Faced but definitely want to try out their products especially their better than sex mascara. I’m really bad at using primers, I tend to forget. But when I do I really like porefessional by Benefit x

I love Too Faced product packaging! They’re all really pretty and I’m lusting for the Chocolate Bar Eyeshadow Palette right now >< I've heard good reviews about their Better Than Sex Mascara too! Haven't tried Porefessional by Benefit yet but I should look into that now that my Too Faced Primer is finishing…
Hehe thanks for stopping by Hannah! <3

It’s the first time for me to read your beauty product review. I think this one will be good for me. I never tried primer before. I want a poreless skin.. T_T I have a flaky dry skin at times too.. >.< I am planning to buy the Aqua BB cream in The Face Shop. Have you tried that already?

I love your blog so I decided to follow you, Ms. Soph! ^o^ <3
