Today I’m going to do a review of the second product in this series, and it’s the Too Faced Primed and Poreless Skin Smoothing Face Primer.
I have had this primer for almost a year and hadn’t used it often until late last year. This was my first primer product and the girl at the Too Faced counter introduced me to this when I was just gawking at their beautifully packaged make up products.
As indicated on the packaging, “Use alone for the look of flawless skin or under bronzer and makeup for a perfect finish“. I did a little research and found that it contained the following ingredients:
1. Mulberry Extract & Arctostaphylos UVA URSI: Protect, brighten and lighten skin for a renewed freshness and soothing effect.
2. Retinyl Palmitate & Cyclodextrin with CAVAMAX Retinol: Restores moisture, elasticity and suppleness with a powerful combination of anti-wrinkle, youth enhancing, skincare ingredients.
3. Camellia Oil & Vitamin A: Essence of the white tea plant and the free radical fighting vitamins are nature’s most powerful antioxidants. Skin looks firmer, brighter and more resilient, even up close.
This is also vegan-friendly and paraben-free. Sounds good doesn’t it?
The primer is a nude beige colour and does not have a sheen at all. It is meant to blend right into your skin on application so it makes it perfect for all skin tones :)
I applied some on the back of my hand and it really becomes invisible on my skin after blending. It is not very obvious in the picture but it did make my skin look slightly smoother and covered some pores. This is a silicon-based primer that is slightly creamy in texture which makes it go on smoothly on the face.
I use this every morning and because of it’s slightly creamy texture it makes it easy to spread the product across the face. My skin is not that great and this primer alone was not enough to cover the blemishes on my face so I have never used it alone. If you have generally clear skin, this would be a great product to wear on days you wish to have light makeup on.
I wear this with my ModelCo Mineral Powder Foundation and my make up stays fresh for most part of the day. At around 5-6 hours you can see some fading of my make up but it is still visible on my face. My face also does not look oily at the end of the work day, although I’m not sure if it’s entirely due to the primer or combined effects of the primer and my mineral powder.
So what do I think of it?
Wearing this underneath my foundation indeed makes my face look more flawless and I am very satisfied with how long it locks my makeup on for. Personally, after using this I realised that I don’t really like how silicon-based primers feel on my skin, but I could overlook that seeing what this product could do for me.
This primer comes in a 28g or 1 oz tube and retails at about A$38, so it isn’t exactly cheap for the amount of product you get. I only have experience with two primers so far, the other one being my Laura Mercier Foundation Primer so I can’t say the Too Faced Primer is my favourite primer in the world.
As to whether I will repurchase after it finishes, I probably will not for the time being as I would like to try out other primers on the market. I am most likely staying away from silicon-based primers but if one day I find that cream primers do not work well on my skin, I might return to this Too Faced Primer. If you are used to silicon-based primers then I would think this is a good product to try out.
Thanks for reading my review! Have you tried this or the other Too Faced Primers before? What do you think of them? Please leave a comment below, I’d love to know what you think :)
